Health Board Article on Suicide:
The act of intentionally causing one’s own death. Mental disorders are risk factors though suicides are impulsive acts due to stress, such as from financial difficulties and relationship problems
Suicide is a desperate attempt to escape suffering. A suicidal person may not ask for help, but that doesn’t mean that help isn’t wanted. People who take their lives don’t want to die—they just want to stop hurting.
Take any suicidal talk/behavior seriously. It’s a cry for help. Most suicidal people are deeply conflicted about ending their own lives. They wish there was an alternative to suicide, but they just can’t see one.
Suicide warning signs include:
talking about suicide, threatening to hurt/kill self, seeking out lethal means, preoccupation with death, hopelessness, self-loathing, self-hatred, , withdrawing from others, self-destructive behavior, sudden sense of calm, feeling trapped – like there’s no way out, anxiety, mood swings, sudden changes in physical habits/appearance, increased use and abuse of alcohol and/or drugs, sleep difficulties and sense of being a burden.

 THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

“IF YOU SEEK NOTHING BUT THE WILL OF GOD,
HE WILL ALWAYS PUT YOU IN THE RIGHT PLACE
AT THE RIGHT TIME.” SMITH WIGGLESWORTH

PSALM 125-THOSE WHO TRUST IN THE LORD CANNOT BE SHAKEN
The writer of the Psalm though not explicitly mentioned expresses great confidence and trust in the Lord; we can glean several things from a close look at it:
1)The Psalmist compares an individual who trusts in the Lord like mount Zion that cannot be moved. In this context mount Zion was a physical hill in Jerusalem on which King David built his stronghold, others associate it with the ‘Temple Mount on which the temple once stood’, a place beloved of the Lord. To others the ultimate Mount Zion is heaven where God resides, the hope of His people. As heaven cannot be moved/shaken so is the person who puts his trust in God.
2)The Psalmist compares the physical location of the city of Jerusalem on a hill surrounded by other hills, to how God puts a ring of protection around his people. A case in point is the hedge that was put around Job by the Lord that was clearly visible to the enemy Satan, Job 1:10.
3)The Lord does not allow wicked people to triumph over the righteous, as this would make the righteous lose hope in God and themselves turn to unrighteousness.
4)The Psalmist makes a plea to God to vindicate the righteous, that is, the upright in heart.
5)A warning is issued to the wicked that punishment from the Lord is on the way coming.

Rev. George Kahuho
