 THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

“The Glory of the Gospel is that when the Church is absolutely different from the world, she invariably attracts it.” Martin Lloyd-Jones.

PSALM 130 WAITING FOR THE LORD’S REDEMPTION

This is a Psalm of an individual who is looking to the Lord for deliverance and salvation; several things can be noted from this Psalm:
1. The Psalmist has a cry to the Lord that comes out of a severe situation that he likens to “depths” akin to a person in a desperate situation arising from past sin.
2. He is glad however that one of Lord’s attributes is that of forgiveness, meaning that there is hope of a renewed relationship with Him.
3. The writer is therefore in a state of expectant waiting on the Lord anchored on His word.
4. The Psalmist ends with an exhortation to the nation of Israel to put their hope in the Lord, that is, even though they may have sinned and done what is not right in His sight, He is able to abundantly pardon and redeem.
The errant believer is encouraged to come boldly to the Lord and access forgiveness and redemption from our Lord.

Rev. George Kahuho
