 THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

"EVERY CHRISTAIN IS EITHER A MISSIONARY OR AN IMPOSTER"

CHARLES SPURGEON

PSALM 126 EXPRESSING JOY AND HOPE IN THE LORD
The Psalm recalls the joy experienced by the Israelites when God brought them back from the Babylonian captivity, we can glean a few things from it.
1. The Israelites acknowledge the sovereign hand of the Lord, in effecting the return to Israel, through no effort from them.
2. The result was spontaneous laughter and singing from the former captives.
3. The writer of the Psalms pleads with the Lord to move again and cause the remaining exiles in foreign lands to come home to their inheritance Israel.
4. The Psalmist expresses hope that the tears they are shedding (for the return of the dispersed Jews) will be rewarded with joy at their return.
5. We as present-day Christians should also borrow a leaf from the Israel remnant and also acknowledge where God through His own agency, has caused great victories for us in circumstances that we could not help ourselves. This should bolster our faith that He who came through for us that time is well able to move sovereignly and powerfully in the daunting negative circumstances that are still outstanding in our lives today.

Rev. George Kahuho
