How to help a suicidal person:
1.Show that you care 2.Ask about suicide 3.Get help
Show you care: Take ALL talk of suicide seriously, trust your judgment, listen carefully, reflect what you hear, use language appropriate for the age of the person involved, be genuine and let the person know you really care.
Ask about suicide: Don’t hesitate to raise the subject and be direct, but non-confrontational. Asking few questions like; Are you thinking about suicide? What thoughts or plans do you have? Are you thinking about harming yourself, ending your life? How long have you been thinking about suicide? Have you thought about how you would do it? Find out if one has seen a doctor/therapist.
Getting help: Do not leave a suicidal person alone, know referral resources, reassure the person, encourage the person to participate in the helping process, encourage the suicidal person to identify other people in their lives who can also help and outline a safety plan.

 THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

“The Cross of Christ is the Heart of the Gospel..if Christ is not the Hub the Wheel will Wobble and break.”
Reinhard Bonnke

PSALM 131 OF DAVID:-CALMING AND QUIETING YOUR SOUL BEFORE THE LORD
In this Psalm David addresses his prayer to the Lord, seeking to be heard of him because of the following:
1.There is no vestige of pride found in him ‘neither his heart nor are his eyes lifted up.
2.He has surrendered himself to the will of God , hence the decision not to concern himself with things too great and marvelous for him.
3.He has calmed and quieted his soul before the Lord. The forgoing speaks of an individual who has trained himself to trust patiently in the Lord, that even though he may have issues that trouble him, he will in an attitude of maturity wait for God to vindicate him.
4.The Psalmist ends with an exhortation for the nation and people of Israel to put their entire trust in the Lord forever.
This Psalm encourages the believer to position himself/herself where the Lord can hear and use them, a place devoid of sin. We should also train ourselves to have an attitude of patient trust in the Lord, that He will come through for us in the fullness of time. Amen.

Rev. George Kahuho
